He does have lots of pre-S1 skills, but we don't a) get to see him use them often on-screen if at all during the later seasons or b) get enough reminders that he possesses such skills. And let's not forget his Bratva-learned skill-sets. Not to mention anything he picked up as an ARGUS operative. And Arrow's Slade was Aussie SAS so Ollie received some professional-level training on the island. but he chooses not to rely on them for a variety of reasons.ĭiggle would by default be expected to be the best marksman - it's in his professional training - but Ollie wouldn't be a slouch either. He is actually a pretty good shot when push comes to shove. And, going off on a Batman tangent (briefly), to dispel a possible myth out there that Batman doesn't use or doesn't know how to use guns - he can and does, though infrequently. It would be good if we saw more scenes of Ollie using firearms and other island-learned skills, such as in S3's Corto Maltese shoot-out (one of the rare post S2 reminders of Ollie's island/flashback-acquired skills). Hopefully they will give us an answer to that.Īlso in 3x01 Oliver said twice "when he chose to come home" and so I think Oliver placed himself back on the island with a planned rescue. I'm not sure why either Oliver refers to Lian Yu besides just now spending about 3 years there. Which yea like I had in my one post of all the kill counts I added up in the flashbacks that Oliver's reached Hood methods so yea agreed on Oliver's finally become that killer. I especially like the comparisons between Oliver now being like Slade and Billy Wintergreen. In a way Oliver saved Anatoli's life on the island but it was more by chance than anything else, so for Anatoli make him a Bratva captain Oliver should do much more for Anatoli in season five flashbacks.Good points all around. I hope season five flashbacks will focus on the Bratva and his relationship with Anatoli. Regarding becoming a killer like pre-miracuru Slade Wilson I think Ollie has finished this path already. There is a lot of Bill Wintergreen in his acting as a guard and torturer and killer showing (I quite enjoyed this symmetry to first season - now Ollie is on the other side and acting the part), but also a lot of Slade when Oliver used both hands to shoot the guards without second thought - just like Slade used to do after deciding it was necessary to help innocents. I think they still have to explain this change of attitude to "purgatory" in season five.Īs to Ollie becoming more of a killer I quite saw Slade Wilson in him in the flashbacks in season four. Could be Argus or Anatoli or someone new.Īlso, his view of Lian Yu had changed at the beginning of season one, he came back there after the death of Tommy as if it was his home not his prison, and he even told Thea that Lian Yu was his home when they were on the island in season 3. I suspect that whomever he convinced to send him back to Lian Yu also provided him with a wig and a false beard so he would look the part to the fishermen. So it seems to me that he planned to be found on the island as if he had been there for five years, living alone, because that is what his story would be after returning to Starling City. I suspect that Oliver will return to the island intentionally out of his free will at the end of season 5 because (I think it was season 1) he claimed that he returned to Starling City with a plan.
